Blue Crop Top
Why Supergirl?

This costume mostly came about when I discovered I had all the materials and items I would need to make it. At least, that's what started the initial inspiration!

While drafting the costume, I rewatched all of Justice League: Unlimited, and fell in love again with Kara. Her confident and feisty attitude are things that I wish I could possess in daily life, and while I work on that, I did my best to channel that swagger in my photos.

Justice League rekindled my fondness for animated comic series, and I really want to do more comic cosplays, such as from X-Men Evolution and more!

About This Costume

The shirt and skirt are milliskin, with the gold features are gold mystique, and the cape is peachskin. All of the fabrics were leftover from Disney cosplays such as Kida and Esmeralda. Even the boots were from Elastigirl! Additionally, the modesty "briefs" that I wear under the skirt are the same as my Jasmine x Leia crossover outfit, because that was super convenient to double dip!

The "S" logo is merely an appliqué, top-stitched to be secure. The cape snaps on and off. All pieces of the outfit are patterned by me. The skirt is a circle skirt, and the cape is three a-line panels pieced together from skirt scraps.

The wig was a freebie that I got online a few years prior, and intended to use for Envy from Scott Pilgrim. So all I did to style it was to trim the bangs a bit!

Blue Leotard
Why Supergirl V2?

Shortly before Hancock Fabrics went out of business, I paid them a visit and found a full yard remnant of a gorgeous blue spandex. Originally I had wanted to make a Supergirl suit with a full leotard, but since my first version was only working off of scraps, I was unable to make it with the amount that was leftover from Kida's skirt. So once I found a full yard remnant, I figured why not go ahead and make a leotard!

The great part about having a leotard versus a crop top is when I wanna feel more comfortable, warm, or modest, I can reuse the cape and skirt and of course wig from the other suit! It's always nice to have some options, haha.

About This Costume

Although the leotard look is more akin to her comic appearances, I still wanted to keep the skirt in theming with the JLU appearance, so opted out of adding red belt loops, and when I get to finishing the proper boot covers (I'm sorry, I'm so lazy about my more casual cosplays haha) they'll have the gold boot toppers same as the animated version.

I made the appliqué logo bigger this time around as well as adding a gold border for a really nice pop of color on the edges! The spandex is slightly darker and more purple-skewed than my last Supergirl top, but looks great with the other accessories nonetheless! Primary colors are always a really fun superhero look, which is why I can't wait to do some version of Wonder Woman or Powergirl also!

White Crop Top
Why Supergirl?

While shopping for some fabric for Psylocke in the LA Fashion District, I found some perfect red boots for just five bucks that would work for both Supergirl and Miss America! So of course when I found my favorite fabric store which is full of all kinds of spandexes, I had to grab some fabric for her skirt and shirt. I would once again just reuse the cape and wig from before! It's always nice to be able to reuse parts!

This outfit has always been a super cute one on my list of ideas, but the boots were what kept me from doing it, so with that hurdle miraculously and suddenly solved, the rest of the outfit was a complete cinch to create!

About This Costume

Once again, the cape is peachskin, and snaps on and off. The white shirt is double layered since white can get pretty revealing, especially on darker skin tones. I opted for navy blue detailing as opposed to black because I felt it suited the colorful color scheme better, so the bands on the shirt and hairband are both done in Psylocke matte spandex scraps. The appliqué is done same as the other versions with gold mystique and red spandex scrap.

For the skirt, I didn't want it terribly tight because I'm not a fan of how tight skirts and dresses look on me personally. Plus they ride up a lot which is also a pain! Even with my designing it to be more flared, it would still creep up because the waistband would try to sit on my higher waist instead of hips. So I anchored it down using snaps on the sides and attach it to the same Supergirl bottoms I used for my first costume.
