Being an illustrative person that loves the fantastic, the magical, and the whimsical, I extended my various editing and illustration skills into digitally editing photos for cosplay as well! I like transforming just a pretty photo into something more by giving a sense of action or narrative. This can elevate photos to an almost cinematic level, setting it in a different genre than other types of photography that I do (such as professional portraits, pet portraits, product photography, etc.).

 

Self-taught in photography, I often take or have assistants help capture many of my cosplays on my Nikon D5300, and I generally use Photoshop to add effects, ambience, color, or retouch. I've also dabbled in Lightroom, though not for cosplay. Before learning Photoshop, I used Aperture until the program was discontinued.
